50th Anniversary of St. Bruno Parish School
Back at the end of January, a 50th Anniversary Committee for St. Bruno Parish School was established and has been meeting regularly. The committee is made up of teachers, the principal, some alums and myself. Have you ever been to a committee where there is a great spirit of excitement and fun among all those participating? This is the committee! This 50th anniversary school year will include a number of fun events for our parish, but especially for our school and its students and teachers. Our Parish/School Golf Outing that happened on August 13 at The Broadlands used the 50th Anniversary as a theme to attract alums and others to play and party together afterward in support of our school. There is a 1961 time capsule that is buried near our school. We need to find it and see what is in it. What would you guess is in it? We will re-bury the old capsule and go through the exciting process of gathering materials to include in a new time capsule. Obviously much is being done on the history of our school; e.g. who attended and who were the teachers and principals. We are gathering fun and interesting stories from the past that we can share. There will be some presentations by our archivist, Debbie Hendrick, on our school’s history for the parish and for the students. Debbie has put together a number of historical trivia questions that will test former students’ and others’ memories. Our older students will do research projects on what was going on in the world around us in the five decades that our school has existed, while our younger students will be creating art around the 50th theme. A mini-museum will be created for the parish to peruse, along with an anniversary display for our Turkey Dinner. An Alumni Dance will happen in early January. A video project will be created to go along with some already existing videos from the past. A Reunion Mass for the first classes that were part of our school in 1961 will happen in May. Students will be dressed in memorial clothing and some other depictions of our 50th Anniversary as a "blast from the past." There is a thought that there may be a contest depicting the old, original school building, the present school building and what the future school might look like. Last, but for sure not the least, Archbishop Listecki will be with our parish for 10:30 a.m. Mass on January 29 to kick off Catholic Schools Week. Each time the 50th Anniversary Committee meets, I can’t get the meeting to end. Everyone is so excited about what we are planning and what things they remember from the past. If you are an alum and have pictures or other memorabilia to lend us, contact Karen Warnes or Debbie Hendrick. St. Bruno, bless you! ~Fr. Ralph"Welcome to St. Bruno Parish!" Video

$1500 tax credit per child in private schools in Wisconsin Senate Bill
Senate Bill 69 which is aimed at providing pre-tax savings for families who enroll their children in private and religious schools in Wisconsin. If passed, this Bill would create statutes 71.07 and 71.10 relating to the creation of a nonrefundable individual income tax credit for tuition expenses paid for dependents who attend private elementary and secondary schools in Wisconsin. The initial amount for elementary students is $1500 per child. We are asking that you contact your local legislators asking that they support this important Bill. Thank you.
